child dedication

At Faith City Church we encourage families to dedicate their children. To dedicate a child means to set apart for God’s glory. Child dedication is not a baptism. When your child is of age and personally accepts Christ as their Savior for the forgiveness of their sins, they can take the next step to be baptized.

When a family decides to dedicate their child, they are publicly committing to their child’s spiritual formation, teaching and training them to follow the Lord. We also joyfully celebrate a new addition to the church community. We appeal to the church community to pray for the family as they seek guidance from the Holy Spirit for themselves and educate their child towards their God-designed purpose. It's about one large Kingdom family being dedicated to each other.

Child Dedications are done on the last Sunday of each month as the last part of the service. We welcome all family members to be part of this special day.

Psalm 127:3 (NLT)

Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him.

Proverbs 22:6 (AMP)

Train up a child in the way he should go [teaching him to seek God’s wisdom and will for his abilities and talents], Even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NIV)

Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

Luke 2:22 (NIV)

…Joseph and Mary took him [Jesus] to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord.

Mark 10:13-14 (NIV)

One day some parents brought their children to Jesus so he could touch and bless them… He said to them, “Let the children come to me. Don’t stop them! For the Kingdom of God belongs to those who are like these children.”
